Nostalgia & History > DRGW in the Royal GorgeDate: 01/19/22 22:27 DRGW in the Royal Gorge Author: jbwest Taken by a very nervous photographer standing on what seemed to me to be a very rickety old suspension bridge. October 1990.

Diesel exhaust and the flanges squealing were an eerie sounding noise. Would have loved to hear steam in regular service from there.

Had to give it up because of the bridge swinging up and down. Down in the gorge itself the river made a lot of noise and it was hard to hear a train coming. I got surprised by one eastbound.
That gorge is one hell of a place. |
