I say this is a great candid glimpse of West Oakland.  To see the ground crew is an extra bonus.  And the music, very nice selection.

The video contains a glimpse of SP SD7 5308 which is the very first EMD SD unit (a former EMD demonstrator).   Notice she has a winterization hatch over one of the fans above the radiator which is not a normal SP feature (only unit equipped with that feature on SP???).   That feature was removed during her last rebuilt by SP in Sacramento.   The unit is now preserved at the Illinois Railway Museum in working condition and SP paint.

This unit also has the rear "wings" which I always associate to the commute fleet.

I forgot about that.   It was dual control equipped as a result of being the demo so SP placed the dual wings on it to reflect it could be operated in either direction.

As noted, a lot of inteeresting stuff in this video, thanks for posting.  As usual, however, it's  badly under exposed.  I had a friend who took movies in the 50s and 60s, and like these, often shot on the shadow side and at least a stop under exposed.  It seems to be common from the films I've seem made in this period.  Still, I'm grateful we've got these, at least we've got something!

Thank you for sharing this glimpse into the past. It's interesting to see a Krause-Maffei ML-4000 in motion.

I, too, appreciate the musical selection; do you know what it is? I do not recognize it, but I'll guess that it's the work of a German composer who was popular in the late 19th century but who has since become pretty much unknown, someone like Felix Draeseke.

Also in this clip is SD40X 434A, SD40 test bed with flared radiators. Cool!
