The website on TrainWeb only describes them as 'Early Spreaders' with a few examples, there seems to be a number of variations in the wood cabin:

Then and now, an amazingly interesting example of how unusually legit the South Shore was in terms of it's Class One properties. The modernized and lengthened MU's always seemed to be more inline with the IC's, Reading's or CN's than say, the North Shore or the Elgin lines.
