Date: 05/18/22 14:16 Re: WP Stockton Engine Facility Author: TomG The trailing unit is not a new image. Its GP20 number2005.
Date: 05/18/22 14:56 Re: WP Stockton Engine Facility Author: PHall The F's got their new paint in June/July of 1978. So sometime after July 78 and Dec 82?

SR Date: 05/18/22 15:47 Re: WP Stockton Engine Facility Author: E25 Cool angle, Bob.
Greg Stadter Phoenix, AZ Date: 05/18/22 16:36 Re: WP Stockton Engine Facility Author: GoldenState Photo would be between 6/78 and 3/81. 918 is one of the three green F's and was retired in March of 81' after an electrical fire. I doubt it would be on, what i think, is the shop lead after that date. PLA got it by 6/82.
Great photo Bob! Rob in Fremont Date: 05/18/22 16:49 Re: WP Stockton Engine Facility Author: zephyrus Awesome shot
Z Date: 05/18/22 20:18 Re: WP Stockton Engine Facility Author: Evan_Werkema I'm surprised to see a hood unit with a "Golden Glow" headlight that late, albeit the rear headlight. Other than on the F's, when was WP's last single bulb/reflector headlight replaced with a twin sealed beam? Or did that "honor" fall to UP after the merger?
Date: 05/18/22 20:38 Re: WP Stockton Engine Facility Author: PHall Except for the units went to M-K for their rebuild, most units had their headlights changed from the "golden glow" incandesant bulbs to the sealed beam fixtures as they failed.
There were a few units that kept the old headlights all the way up to the UP assimulation day. Example: the SW9's all went to their UP rebuild to SW10's with their original headlights. Date: 05/18/22 20:55 Re: WP Stockton Engine Facility Author: TomG A lot of GP40s and GP35s after the MK rebuild made it all the way to the UP with the rear golden glow lights. Back up lights on the main line power didnt seem to be a priorty to WP, just units in switcher service.

They may have had the golden glow headlight housings but they had the dual sealed beam conversion plate installed. Using the conversion plates enabled them to convert the headlights at the lowest possible cost. Which was always important to the WP.
