.   .   .   in MAR '73, on the return leg of a honeymoon in San Diego, two Amtrak San Diegans were meeting on a short stretch of reverse double track between Old Town and Ash Street near downtown San Diego. Santa Fe had hundreds of miles of reverse double track where normally trains keep to the right and tracks are signalled in only one direction, on these portions, special instructions indicated trains would keep to left but 251 rules of operation still applied.
