Nostalgia & History > Fifty Or More Years Ago - B&O 1447Date: 08/02/22 22:36 Fifty Or More Years Ago - B&O 1447 Author: refarkas This B&O winter image is from 1967-1969. At the time I mostly used a Mamiya C3 camera that took 2 and 1/4 inch square negatives and slides. As my dad had a darkroom, I developed the black and white negatives myself. This size slide film was very expensive, so I rarely took slides.
Westbound B&O 1447 with "The Diplomat" is at the Akron Union Station in Akron, Ohio. The train on the left is an eastbound Erie Lackawanna freight. Bob Date: 08/02/22 22:48 Re: Fifty Or More Years Ago - B&O 1447 Author: jgilmore Well-executed scene!

In looking at that E unit, it appears that the unit behind the E is a GP-9 passenger unit. Do you have a photo of that or do you remember what it was? Thanks.

Bob Date: 08/03/22 09:14 Re: Fifty Or More Years Ago - B&O 1447 Author: Notch7 That is a great picture - very sharp. The 1447 intrigues me. It has a jumper box installed in the nose door, and the outside door handle has been removed. Never saw a retrofitted jumper box in a nose door before. That pretty much seals off the nose door. I worked on some B&O E8's in the Amtrak Florida pool, but they all had normal nose doors.
