Coast Starlight F40's lead the Coast Starlight at Cougar

Back when I first moved up to Dunsmuir a late running #14 was always a reason to go for a chase in the early 1990's. This location at Cougar was one of my favorites. I took this with my 4x5 wooden field camera on color negative film. At this location you could hear and see the train coming for miles. This is about a 45 minute drive from Dunsmuir so there was ample time to set up the camera. There is nothing like looking into the ground glass of a 4x5 under a dark cloth and composing your shot.

My first thought, too. It's one gorgeous picture. Bob always deserves an A+ for photo composition.
