Presenting more Amtrak Train 16 The Lone Star at Wichita Union Station, the first two from  with the Engineer in the cab of a 500 Class ready to depart town and a view of the Station from the elevated platform.  The next 6 shots are of Train 16 with 523 leading, in the second paint scheme for those engines with views on the platform and departing shots heading railroad east (due north directionally) from the station.

Thanks for remembering a "Carter Cutback" victim.  It was 43(!) years ago
last Saturday, October 1, that the Lone Star(15/16)  made their final trips.
Also, does Wichita Union still stand? 

Nice shots!  Rode the Texas Chief and Lone Star many times from Temple, TX to Newton, KS and back

The Wichita depot is in great shape, and is waiting for a train to return.
I took this shot in June at Art Gibson's memorial.  Close proximity to the second photo.
I really like the blur shot of #16 departing!
