6 More on CF7s

1. AMTK 593 backing F40PH 224 with Train 572, a San Diegan, into LAUPT, Los Angeles, CA on September 8, 1988.

2 and 3.  Before and After: ATSF 303L at the Joliet, IL diamonds on August 30, 1973. She was an F7A built Oct. 1949 and rebuilt to CF7 2498.  AND ATSF 2498 in Stockton, CA on September 8, 1977. She was AT&SF F7A 303L, rebuilt as a  CF7 in Oct. 1974 then scrapped Jan. 1982.

4. ATSF 2532 in Indianapolis, IN on June 16, 1988. She was AT&SF F7A 266C, rebuilt as CF7 in Feb. 1974, and to INDR (Indiana Ry) 2532.

5. ATSF 2543 on Indiana Ry in Indianapolis, IN on May 11, 1993. She was F7A 300C, rebuilt as CF7 2543 in Nov. 1973, and later to INRD 2543.

6. WATX 1002-910902 Springfield,OR on September 2, 1991. She was AT&SF F7A 208C, rebuilt to CF7 2549 in Oct. 1973, retired Jan. 1987, then to WATX 1002 in Feb. 1987.

Great series! In pic 2 of Santa Fe 303L, did Santa Fe start painting trucks, pilot, fuel tank black after passenger duty, or is that just road grime? That F looks odd to me. Tyco-ish or something.

Odd font for the WATCO lettering.  Looks like a 3rd grader picked it out.

As much as some like to complain about the CF7's design there seems to have been some pretty good engineering going here since many of the units were around 20+ years after their conversion.

I was always fascinated that the with only a few exceptions, the entire INRD CF7 fleet was sold by Santa Fe, delivered by ICG and served their entire career on the INRD without ever having the Santa Fe lettering removed or any INRD logos or reporting marks added. If I recall, Tom Hoback's father was a Santa Fe man.
