Ex-Golden Strand - a 4 dbl bedroom - 4 compartment - 2 drawing room car Built in March 1942 (thanks to PHall and davew833 for that info). Photo by Tom Gildersleeve Gary Edited 2 time(s). In the final years before Amtrak, so many SP sleepers roamed through the Carolinas as needed.

Bob Date: 11/24/22 11:24 Re: SP sleeper 9115 in Ogden Author: BoilingMan In (WAY) younger days we rode the Golden State in the Summer to visit family in Illinois (Phoenix to Joliet). I remember we always booked a Compartment. #4 picked up a 4-4-2 in Phoenix, and I remember waiting for our room to be made up, so I’m guessing this pick up car was the one we were in. Quite possibly this very same car- or the 9111 I later occupied on the AFT.
