Nostalgia & History > SP 3694 in OaklandDate: 12/02/22 18:24 SP 3694 in Oakland Author: ssloansjca Southern Pacific (SP) GP9 3694 is waiting for a train on the West Oakland Wye, under the BART tracks on an unknown date in June 1974.
SP 3694 is an EMD GP9, SP Class EF418-8. Reportedly: SP 3694 was built in 1959 by EMD as a model GP9, builders number 25131, SP 5831, SP Class DF-612. In 1965 it was renumbered to SP 3694, SP Class EF418-8. This locomotive was downgraded in 1976 emerging as SP 2876 SP Class, ES418-8. The disposition of this locomotive is: retired in 1987 and sold in 1988 Wilson Rail Services, to Alababama & Florida RR to Wiregrass Central 2876.
