Nostalgia & History > ICG visits Uncle PeteDate: 12/04/22 07:53 ICG visits Uncle Pete Author: santafe199 I was less than a year into serious railfan photography when I shot these 2 slides. I wasn’t ‘streetwise’ enough to know if I had shot something rare, or if this was a somewhat common occurrence. I can’t imagine that UP’s Kansas City facility had anything special in the way of diesel engine servicing. But what does a civilian kid know, anyhow? Looking back, I have a Jim Watson slide scan from 1978 showing a 4-pack of ICG geeps outside at the UP’s fuel rack. But this is the only time I can remember seeing an IC/ICG unit actually inside the shop. It may be significant, maybe not. But then on the UP sand track we also notice the 3 big SP road dogs that might be more suited to hanging around at North Platte... ;^)
1. ICG 8111 showing a nose from inside the UP RH building. 2. The 8111 has other ‘foreign’ company in the 3 big SP units outside. 2 photos taken, January 3, 1977 in Kansas City, KS. Thanks for looking back! Lance Garrels santafe199 Date: 12/05/22 20:06 Re: ICG visits Uncle Pete Author: texchief1 Nice shots, Lance!!
