Nostalgia & History > Red's 1st Trip, Engineer On 292Date: 12/05/22 09:10 Red's 1st Trip, Engineer On 292 Author: Fr8engineer "Red's 1st trip, engineer on 292" - that's what the slide mount says.
It also notes the names from left to right as; High Pauley Justice, "Red" Jack Simpson, and Mike Whitt. No other information listed. This was one of many slides I've acquired that were taken on the C&O's "Big Sandy" by an employee between the 50s and 80s. Nice little moment in time captured here. Edited 1 time(s). Long years ago when I worked for SCL, we had a train numbered 292. It went to Hamlet NC from the Clinchfield interchange point of Bostic NC. The C&O gave a Hamlet block to the Clinchfield at Elkhorn City KY. Did the Clinchfield and the C&O use the same train number in interchange - 292 ? Oddly a CSX local chairman and I were talking about 292 this afternoon. I worked 292 maybe a couple of times in 1972. That's a neat pic anyway.
