Nostalgia & History > CR on Rockville Bridge and AMTRAK at Hbg

In the 1st shot we have  SB CR ENRO, the daily freight that takes the old RDG Lurgan Branch south to Hagerstown Md. This shot shows the typical power set a CR/NS/CR trio. This particular shot has a CR GP38-2/N&W GP35/CR GP38-2. Train is making it's way across the Rockville Bridge north of Harrisburg Pa and is seen from the west side of the Susquehanna River on a November 1984 view. CR's Buffalo Main is just under the bridge in the back at the base of Second Mtn. This is the trains first crossing of the Susquehanna River within a few miles. thru here. It will recross the river on the old RDG Bridge on HBG's south side.

The 2nd shot has one of the Pennsylvanian's in the station at Hbg again taken in November 1984. AMT F40PH-2 384 leads the train today.

Nice set Ben, guess that Lemoyne Connection never was really needed. Less so today with PSR...

Not sure if that is still being talked about, but like ya say, the way they run things now days, becomes moot.  Biggest thing I recall from that was the fact that some of the grounds around were Sacred Indian Grounds or something to that effect. Haven't heard anything since around the time I took the shots. A few times here and ther thru the years, but nothing substantial.  Thanks for the nice comment Joel. Be well, Ben

The Indian Burial grounds buried the LeMoyne Connection. Nothing has been heard since.
