Nostalgia & History > Signal Sunday - protected by semaphoresDate: 01/22/23 05:41 Signal Sunday - protected by semaphores Author: gcm April 85
Two lines crossing at Eagle Lake,Tx protected on all four quadrants by semaphores. The line to the left is the SP Bellaire branch out of Houston (originally the San Antonio & Aransas Pass). It is crossing the Santa Fe Cane Belt Branch (originally the Cane Belt Railway). Behind me +- 2000 ft both lines crossed the SP Sunset Route. Unfortunately all gone today. The SP replaced stick rail with relayed continuous welded rail on the Bellaire Branch in 1985; that is why there is new ballast on the Bellaire Branch in this picture.
