My final ride on D&RGW's Rio Grande Zephyr was on Train 17 which arrived the evening of February 21, 1983. My best railfan buddy Jon Porter and I did a round trip between Salt Lake City and Glenwood Springs.

The following day, Feb. 22nd, we chased No. 18 as far as Soldier Summit where we had to break off to catch an afternoon flight back to San Jose. On the 20th I made a recording of the RGZ as it traversed the last mile to the depot. It's on my 'rockbasso' Youtube channel if anyone is interested.
