Southern Pacific (SP) GP35 6554 leads GP20 4084, GP9E 3840 and SD9E 4437 west of Antelope near Roseville, CA on an unknown date in 1978.
SP 6554 is an EMD GP35, SP Class EF425-1. Reportedly: SP 6554 was built in 1964 by EMD as a model GP35, builders number 28869, SP 7442, SP Class DF-623. In 1965 it was renumbered to SP 6554 EMD GP35, SP Class EF425-1.
This locomotive was not upgraded.
The disposition of this locomotive is, retired 1990. Sold to Morrison-Knudsen. Became BN G39M 2873.

Could be the RVWJY with a large cut of corn for Fat City at Soledad. Corn was forwarded from WJ on the Soledad Turn

That is the Elkhorn Blvd overpass going over the tracks. Not far behind the photographer would have been eastbound intermediate signal 1008, aka the "Ten-Oh-Eight" signal. In the background can be seen the Antelope Rd overpass about a mile away.

Today this is location of the west end of UP's Roseville yard and is the exact location of Control Point RV101 Citrus Heights. The hump pull backs and receiving yard running rail funnel into the mainline just on the other side of the overpass.
