Nostalgia & History > L&N office building in Frankfort,KyDate: 03/17/23 06:36 L&N office building in Frankfort,Ky Author: gcm Aug 83
Near the station was this L&N building. I believe the line to the right of it went (least at one time) to Georgetown ? Looks like a hefty grade in the background. Plenty of old buildings in this town. The old brick masters did a great job on the old multi story building in the last shot. Ex-L&N GP38 6230 had just arrived. Glancing at a Google image from 2018, the L&N building is gone, one track remained (not used) between the buildings. The nice brick building is still there. Just behind where I took these shots the old L&N main by the station is still used by R. J. Corman. Amazing.
Wondering when was the last time an agent sold tickets there? Thanks for sharing - the black and white enhances the images! Date: 03/17/23 08:29 Re: L&N office building in Frankfort,Ky Author: EL833 Heck of a find even back in '83....nice coverage.

ALLEN Date: 03/17/23 20:18 Re: L&N office building in Frankfort,Ky Author: Panamerican99 The grade in the background is the Frankfort & Cincinnati RR, a short line based in Frankfort. Their track crossed the Southern at Georgetown and reached Paris, KY. The F&C ran several excursions using equipment borrowed fro Souther Ry in the 1950's. Their own passenger service was handled by a pair of motor cars (doodlebugs), one of them a Brill M55 model that F&C donated to Ky Ry Museum in 1959.
