Eureka Southern GP38-30 is W/B in the Eel River Canyon at the Longvale crossing of Outlet Creek. Built in 1969, 30 is ex Conrail 7667, nee Pennsylvania Reading Seashore Lines 2007. Later it went to Dakota, Minnesota & Eastern as their 3800, the "City of Owatonna". Late afternoon on 7/24/85 near Willits, CA.

As "coaststarlighthoghead" is wont to say, that could have been me running that engine, although most of the trains I ran on EUKA had two units. No. 30 was my least favorite GP38 as it's (sic) whistle was absolutely deafening. No. 31 had a Nathan P-5 and was much more pleasant. |
