This location should be easy!
Author: santafe199

My friend John Wegner got a great “Dutch-door” shot here while riding behind the 8444. But we can’t seem to pin down the location...

1. UP 8444 is leading this excursion in September of 1978. But where is it? Greeley, CO*
Original Kodachrome slide by John Wegner.

Thanks for looking back!

I don't have any idea specifically where except a guess that is in some small Nebraska town. Great photo, rail activity as it should be. grain loading, boxcar spotted for loads or to unload and several tracks to reach customers.

Greeley, it is. Thanks guys! John & I kicked it around on the phone, but we couldn't come up with anything definite. Frankly, with so many other irons in the fire I didn't have the time to go digging around in Google Maps. And Mike: WOW, your talent in this area is exemplary! You are fast becoming our "go-to guy" for nailing down locations! Well done, sir... :;^)

Northbound at Greeley.  If the view had been to the other side, it is where the Colorado Model Railroad Museum is now located.
