A Pair of Flares
Author: gbmott

I posted an earlier version of this on the Passenger board, but it is really more about nostalgia.  I've also included the return trip.  This was today's train to Two Harbors on the North Shore Scenic Railroad (Lake Superior Railroad Museum).  With both SD-45's now fully-carded it was desired to confirm that they properly MU-ed so this was the chance to do that.  It would have been nice if the weather had been better, but you can only ask for so much.

Somethin' Special about that "Hustle Muscle" logo and overall paint scheme, goes right along with the muscle car era of the late 1960's
Nice video too!

Thanks for posting, Gordon.  The last I'd heard, the 400 had mechanical issues and was not operational, so it's good to see the GN Historical Society, which now owns it, got it fixed.  And the letterboard on the Q dome is a great touch.

The GNHS owns 400, but its repair and maintenance is the responsibility of LSRM and it is they that restored it to operation.

Good video to enjoy.   Hustle Muscle!    A little rain never bothered me as long as the temp was reasonable.

Great to see ex-GN #400 healthy and in more stable surroundings, thanks for the video.

Thanks for this Gordon.  I was told by an LSRM vollunteer they were waiting for GNHS to fix it.  I guess they were just waiting for GNHS to come up with the money.
