The third BN in green (from the front to rear) looks like it might have been a Great Northern in prior life. Regardless, it's a memorable catch. jb Edited 1 time(s). Lot nostalgia for them but there was a lot of extra work, moves, shuffling them around not to mention the RR
maintaining and stocking them. Bob Date: 02/11/24 12:55 Re: BN 'heritage' caboose hop Author: valmont danoconnell Wrote:

Some help: From The Diesel Shop BN 6147-6176 ex-CB&Q 345-374 Date: 02/12/24 01:29 Re: BN 'heritage' caboose hop Author: Evan_Werkema valmont Wrote:
> Some help: From The Diesel Shop BN 6147-6176 ex-CB&Q 345-374 There's also Charles Biel's site: http://www.trainpix.com/BN/EMDORIG/SD9/INDEX.HTM And Trainweb: http://www.trainweb.org/jaydeet/sd9.htm Built in 1955 as CB&Q 360, it became BN 6162 in the 1970's and got chopnosed at some point in the early 1980's: https://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?11,5748748 Its old BN number carried through to the BNSF roster for about a decade. It got renumbered BNSF 1739 in early 2007 to make way for an ES44AC, but was probably stored out of service never to run again when the renumbering happened. Looks like the number was sprayed on the long hood with a rattle can: http://railroadfan.com/wiki/index.php?title=File:SD9_BNSF_1739.JPG BNSF 1739 went to NRE in late 2007, and the last photos I'm finding of it online show it at Silvis in 2009. |
