San Jose Diridon Station, California 1. SP SW1500 #2686, built 4//73, to UPY #1230 6/30/01, was tied down. 2. Train 47 was shoved by 3. CDTX/JPBX F40PH-2 #913, Belmont, built 5//85, later rebuilt to F40PH-3CAT #913. Note the switchman and his shanty. 4. F40PH-2 #917, Gilroy, was built 5//85, later rebuilt to F40PH-3CAT #917. [Slightly off topic: In August 2004 I went into a restaurant in the Central Station, Oslo, Norway. A picture of one of these F40PH-2 was on the cover of the English menu.] 5. An e/b train led by F40PH-2 #900, San Francisco, built 3//85, later rebuilt to F40PH-3CAT #900, arrived. 6. I seem to remember that this sign disappeared about the time the roundhouse was demolished but was later recovered. SP GP9R #3305, built 10//54 as T&NO GP9 #413, to SP #3425, rebuilt 4//70, + SD9E #4450, built 4//54 as SD9 #5363, renumbered #3822, rebuilt 11//73, + another GP9(R?) were tied down, South San Francisco, CA. 8. Surprised that first photo isn't of 2689. It was the depot goat for quite a while. Mostly when we still had the old SP pull/pull equipment.
