Nostalgia & History > Americans in Argentina, PE/KeyDate: 03/27/24 05:12 Americans in Argentina, PE/Key Author: masterphots Here are a few photos from my collection of ex-pat trolleys in Buenos Aires. Not the best but historic nonetheless.

Larry Date: 03/27/24 14:11 Re: Americans in Argentina, PE/Key Author: dwatry I think the cars in #1 are not ex-American cars. Note the buffers. The Hollywood cars, which these resemble, had a single center entrance, and these have 2 entrances.

round 'spot' next to the '950'. Here's where the round Baldwin-Westinghouse builders plate was originally attached at the factory in 1920. Interesting that both 1590 and 1591 were originally built for service in Cuba and PE was able to pick them up at bargain basement prices; $27,911 for both in 1923, after financing with the original purchaser fell through---then for them to finish their careers in Latin America. Some of the features that PE added seem to be present at the time of your photo---the class light/marker light above the door was still in place and the handrail/stanchions seem to be original; flag mounting brackets at three of the visible corners of the car-body---I can easily imagine seeing them in PE red paint or the later black with white or orange end striping. Thanks Alan, for showing us these. Charlie Date: 03/28/24 05:41 Re: Americans in Argentina, PE/Key Author: masterphots cewherry Wrote:

I think the Ferroclub has repainted them fairly recently. The recent tour there which continued after the steam train roll-over so perhaps someone on TO who made the visit to Lynch could comment on their current conditon |
