Wednesday From the Window: K4s on Horseshoe Curve
Author: bandob

In 1975, fans would be on the lookout around Horseshoe Curve to see the K4s on display. It was on display at the curve from 1957 to 1985.

I never noticed in earlier photos that the Pacific's tires were trimmed in white.

Chris is correct: It is a K4s, I have changed the text. It is interesting to see how many sources still do not mention the "s." For example, Wikipedia says: "Pennsylvania Railroad 1361 is a 4-6-2 K4 "Pacific" type steam locomotive built in May 1918.."

Pennsy Power by Alvin F. Staufer identifies the locomotive correctly.  I suspect there is confusion because some may suspect that many locomotives are being referenced. For example:  K4s vs. K4s's.

I guess this is an example of "Precision Railfanning."
