Warbonnet Wednesday . . .
Author: 3rdswitch

.   .   .   in the early morning of May 23, 1990, Santa Fe 100 was idling away at Santa Fe's Hobart diesel service facility at Hobart Yard in Los Angeles, CA. In just a couple of hours the 100 and company would be making it's first eastbound trip out of Los Angeles leading train 2-891-23 to Chicago.

I remember trying to chase these on their maiden voyage East of Ft. Madison. They went by us and we didn't catch up to them until they changed crews at Ft. Madison. It seemed like they were doing every bit of 90 MPH. Beautiful machines.
