I remember when the scene looked just like that...seems like ages...now the stacks are gone replaced by condos that only wealthy people can buy.

It's amazing how much of Richmond rail is on bridgework. Great image, Bob.

It's the river that made that necessary......plus a heavy grade to get to where 2nd street yard was, so Fulton yard was built and the viaduct to make an easy approach. And the Seaboard put theirs in just beneath, and the Southern Railway at street level. Richmond is a railroad town for sure!
