Nostalgia & History > Last Days of LRC Power Toronto 1999Date: 04/02/24 13:21 Last Days of LRC Power Toronto 1999 Author: erielackawanna VIA train #53 (which had recently lost its name, York) from Montreal slows for the end of its run to Toronto Union Station a quarter of a century ago. The train was still equipped with both LRC power and LRC cars at the time. While the locomotive (or power car) probably had less than two years left in service, the cars had at least a 1/4 century more to come. As I remember, this was an access point to the tracks I had discovered east of the station at Lower Jarvis Street. I was able to drive up, park, and shoot away. No one seemed to care, but I didn't hang out long. It seemed questionable to be there. March 15, 1999
