Nostalgia & History > Cowl in the Flint HillsDate: 04/18/24 08:44 Cowl in the Flint Hills Author: santafe199 I went digging thru my '85 timebook on the chance that I might have worked this train. But no such luck. 1985 was a pretty slow year and I wasn’t officially called back to work until May 7. I’m 99% certain this is a 328 train: hot auto parts Argentine to SoCal. This train always had 2 and sometimes 3 big burners for power, and could weigh in around 35-3600 tons. What I really liked was the fact that this boxcar/manifest train would regularly rub its 70 MPH shoulders with trains like 188 & 189 during this time of the day...
1. AT&SF 5984 leads train 328 (probably) into the siding at Matfield Green, KS on April 14, 1985. Original Kodachrome trader slide by Roger Bee, from the Daniel Archer collection. Thanks for looking back! Lance Garrels (santafe199) Daniel Archer (SKOChief) Date: 04/18/24 09:10 Re: Cowl in the Flint Hills Author: texchief1 Across from the section house!
