Another great Joe Ward photo from June of 1967 with F units in charge heading for Colfax.
There is one double track bridge there over I-80 now and I don't remember two, but that was
a long time ago.

The bridges are the same now as they were then.

There's only a few actual double-track
bridges on Donner -- the others are
single-track bridges side by side.

It's amazing how much freight rolled over Donner back then--lots and lots of freight to and from the SF Bay Area.  Lots of warehouses, military bases, canneries, etc. all getting carload service.

Trainline 109 says 34 million gross tons over Donner in 1979
-- wonder how much these days.
