Lake Shore in winter
Author: DavidP

Not wanting to quit this Lake Shore Limited fest, here are a couple of westbound 449 at Framingham, MA on Feb 17, 2011.

1) P42DC 164 is leading on this day.  While one unit is plenty of power for the Boston section, two or three are not unusual as the Boston power usually continues on to Chicago.  Power for the Downeasters and New Haven is also swapped into New England via the LSL.

2) Leaving Framingham.  For a few years Amtrak assigned a Horizon all-table food service car as as the Lake Shore's lounge, operating between Boston and Chicago.  It wasn't a particularly nice car, with the booths at one end usually filled with boxed supplies and lounging crew members.  A second Horizon is deadheading on the head end.  With the Horizons, a Heritage bag car, Amfleet II coaches and and a Viewliner sleeper, this Lake Shore is showcasing Amtrak's full catalogue of single level passenger equipment.
