Nostalgia & History > Burlington caboose near DenverDate: 04/26/24 04:25 Burlington caboose near Denver Author: gcm Nov 1976
Caught on the shady side but still liked these Burlington Route cabooses. This was on a BN coal train east of Denver. Gary Date: 04/26/24 04:53 Re: Burlington caboose near Denver Author: OmahaTom Very cool! That livery was hot!
Tom Loftus Omaha, NE Date: 04/26/24 05:15 Re: Burlington caboose near Denver Author: santafe199 Good shot! Nothing wrong with shooting the "dark side" now & then... ;^)
Lance Date: 04/26/24 07:31 Re: Burlington caboose near Denver Author: Milwaukee Do I only see 3 digits on the cupola side? Would that indicate this to be Burlington (BN at the time) subsidiary FW&D or C&S caboose?

Nice pic! Date: 04/26/24 10:14 Re: Burlington caboose near Denver Author: mojaveflyer I remember seeing this waycar in Denver a few times in the 1980s. This looks like the Keenesburg Cut just west of Keenesburg.

This caboose looks great, it's the time I've noticed yellow steps, perhaps another local touch.

If it was a C&S or FW&D car it would have the C&S or FW&D reporting marks on it. Date: 04/26/24 12:19 Re: Burlington caboose near Denver Author: BigSkyBlue It's an FW&D caboose. They had 3 digit numbers as you see on the cupola here. The FW&D reporting marks are on the far end of the car at the top.
The CB&Q and C&S cars had 5 digit numbers. BSB Date: 04/26/24 14:06 Re: Burlington caboose near Denver Author: dan C&S shops were abandoned by 1974 I think, roundhouse had a little action, but things were winding down
