Depot Friday: a Mighty Fine end
Author: santafe199

My friend Jim Watson passed through Fairbury, NE a couple of week after the Rock folded. Knowing Jim, he shot every little bit of Rock Island presence he could. That included the former 2-story passenger depot. He also shot a slide of the official cessation notice. Death be not pretty...

1. CRI&P depot in Fairbury, NE on April 15, 1980.

2. Mighty sad words, indeed...
2 original Kodachrome slides by the late James W. Watson.

Thanks for looking back a ways...

It does, and is a museum named "Rock Island Railroad Depot". They've done a nice job refurbishing the building!
