May I assume Bruce got his elevation from some grain elevator which has since been razed? Current Google Maps shows nothing in Forsythe that would provide that kind of elevation...

My guest is he climb up a ridge at the Forsyth Water Spring and Rest Area just west of town on old highway 10W

Thanks. I went back for another look, and I think I found the spot you're talking about. In 2010, after my last working day (out of Laurel for MRL) and before I made the actual move home to Kansas I went shooting east of Billings quite a bit. But I didn't go any further east than Pompeys Pillar... :^)

Glad to help out Lance. Drove that way many times to the family farms in Wibuax, MT and Herbon, ND
