Nostalgia & History > Switcher Saturday: The Real Deal in NebraskaDate: 04/27/24 05:18 Switcher Saturday: The Real Deal in Nebraska Author: march_hare Summer 2022 finds me doing one of my favorite railfan crawls: following the UP Main across Nebraska. Stop at each elevator to see what local switching power is lying around, and shoot whatever mainline traffic the UP may throw at me.
Lo and behold, at Silver Creek, we find an elevator switcher that's actually a switcher! Haven't seen a real end cab switcher along this route in several years. Anybody know the ancestry of this unit? Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 04/27/24 16:34 by march_hare. The location is actually about halfway between Clarks and Central City, and is called "Thumel" in my old Nebraska DeLorme atlas. Loco was still there last time I went by about two years ago.
