Another Baltimore Transit Company Streetcar Scene
Author: ClubCar

Here is just another memory of the #8 streetcar line with BTC PCC 7105 on Greenmount Avenue at 33rd. Street.  The movie theatre is long ago closed and none of the stores and restaurants seen in the photo are still there or have changed names.  I purchased a copy of the photo from another friend and it is marked as 1962.

A movie theatre, a bowling alley, a restaurant, and a hardware/paint store, plus PCC streetcar service all in the same city block.  Now, that area is probably a war zone.  We have lost a lot as a society.

Nice!  "Running Man" with Lee Remick and Laurence Harvey came out in 1963, and I'm pretty sure that's a 1963 Chevy Impala parked on the far side of the street in front of the clapped out Mercury.

Nice Technicolor photo. Thanks for sharing this one, John. If I remember right, BTC #8 was the only streetcar line I ever rode (and it was probably just about 1962).
However, the date may be a little off--"The Running Man", starring Lee Remick, was released in 1963.

You are most likely correct about the date as the final two streetcar lines, the numbers 8 and 15, operated until November 3, 1963, then, regrettably, the bus company converted those lines also to bus operations, a sad day for all Baltimore citizens.

Indeed, Mike. That's definitely a 1963 Chevy Impala. And what looks to be a '62 Chevy parked in front of it.

Very NICE clear shot of the PCC on the 8 Line. Fun to see all the stores, cars and movie theater. Nice one John!

Super scene - The PCC car, the buildings, cars, etc. look oh-so- inviting if time travel were possible.

I wonder if the bowling alley was open 24 hours a day?

Can't say for sure re 24/7, but not likely. Before you buy a plane-uh, I mean--train ticket though, be warned--it is (was) probably duckpins only (it's a Bawlamer thing).

When I lived in Chicago in the early 1970s, there were bowling alleys opened 24 hours. I think some had midnight and morning leagues to cater to shift workers,

Also, 33rd. & Greenmount was right near the old Memorial Stadium where the Colts and Orioles used to play.
