Some UP GE action in Wyoming, June 1987.
Author: Guitartrain

1. A trio of Union Pacific C30-7s, 2456, 2405 & 2502, have just exited the west portal of Hermosa tunnel with a W/B. Not sure if these were empties or loads. I did see a loaded coal go west a little later in the day. 5:03PM on 6-20-87 in Hermosa, WY.

2. A W/B loaded coal train is rounding the curve on track three of the Laramie Sub just east of Dale Junction. Union Pacific C30-7-2510 is in the lead with SD40-2-3839, SD40-3106 & C30-7-2465 behind. 6:30PM on 6-20-87 in Dale, WY.

3. A short W/B TOFC train, with what looks to be heavy with UPS trailers up front, is on track two of the Laramie Sub. A C36-7 duo, 9007 & 9000, is on the point. The pile of rocks and dirt behind the trailers was, up until July of 1980, a much larger hill. 12:45PM on 6-25-87 in Dale, WY.

Great shots, Bill!  Can you imagine UP running a train like that shooter in photo 3?
