The last time I saw the Eugene Depot while attending the 2016 Olympic Track and Field Trials and having dinner at the nearby Oregon Electric Station the Depot looked a bit more buffed out. Kent in CArmel Valley Date: 04/28/24 13:29 Re: Shasta Daylight Sunday Author: TCnR Would think the lights are a left over from changing out steam power from the Valley to the Mountain District. Also some mail loading into the Klamath, not sure what time of day that would have been though.
Also would think the string of lights would be attached to a rope and pulley on the far side. Get some track and time, find the rope and lower the string, all in a days work. Another interesting photo, thanks Bob. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 04/28/24 13:32 by TCnR. Date: 04/28/24 13:31 Re: Shasta Daylight Sunday Author: timz Question is, why not lights on poles, like everywhere else.

Date: 04/28/24 13:45 Re: Shasta Daylight Sunday Author: ExStarlightHog What happened to those beautiful Leslie horns that used to sit on top of the 6202? These things look like they belong on a switch engine.

Larry Date: 04/28/24 13:50 Re: Shasta Daylight Sunday Author: TCnR Poles near the tracks would be a hazard to trainmen dropping off of moving equipment, also more hassle for removing snow. Light bulbs were just not that powerful at the time, the string of lights seems to be very adequate. The lights were probably installed when electricity first became available in the area.
Date: 04/28/24 13:51 Re: Shasta Daylight Sunday Author: agentatascadero I was enthused to see so much Daylight color in the consist, that is until I noticed what appears to be an articulated coach pair just behind the baggage car. They represent a downgrade of sorts from the normal Shasta equipment, and are more suited for shorter runs than this 16 hour affair.
I'm having a hard time discerning just how long this train might be......anyone with better eyes have any idea? I was looking, in paticular for the triple unit diner and the dome, but didn't see either.
