CR's PIOI at West Portal (NJ)

Thirty years ago on this date, CR's PIOI (Pittsburgh to Oak Island) at CP WEST PORTAL in Asbury, NJ. In the background can be seen the I-78 overpass for those that are familiar with this location. Eventually this CP was eliminated when the siding was extended to MP 67 in Bloomsbury. CR 6978, an EMD SD40-2, would later become PRRX 3435 and would be rebuilt by NS to SD33ECO being renumbered to NS 6216.
