> Does the little red card denote something. That's the train order signal. The type is sometimes known as a rotary or "paddle" orderboard. The operator can rotate the paddle 90 degrees using a lever inside the bay window. The paddle parallel to the depot means no orders, perpendicular means orders to pick up. It's not direction-specific, so generally found on lighter-density lines. At one time it had a motor car train and a local freight train train on that line.. The track was torn up on during the 1980's in segments of three removals. According the two X GN conductors from Willmar, MN that transfrred to Northtown (Mpls) after the1970 merger, the GN and NP did very little, if any interchange traffic between the two roads.
