Nostalgia & History > Tower Tuesday: Name this tower! (please...)Date: 05/07/24 04:53 Tower Tuesday: Name this tower! (please...) Author: santafe199 With all of our California cousins onboard this should go pretty fast. I see a signboard “Riverside Jct” back there. Is that the tower’s name? Is it that easy?? (I’ve learned the hard way not to assume anything... ;^)
By the way: this is a pretty cool night scene! 1. AT&SF Riverside Jct* Tower in Riverside, CA on September 3, 1969. C H Cox copy slide, from the late Tony Fey collection. Thanks for the help! Riverside Junction was where UP took off on their own from Santa Fe trackage rights from Daggett and over Cajon to get the rest of the way to Los Angeles. Today UP takes off at West Riverside, a couple of miles west, which of course, just a control point.

Author: hotrail For being in crowded SoCal, that tower seems to have eluded many photographers. We all have ample pics of nearby Colton Tower, but Riverside Jct. is seldom seen. Thanks for posting!
