Great shot at the signals !
I heard that the Rock Island used some E units on freights on the weekends ?

Nice shot,but I believe this is East of Joliet almost to New Lenox. 
That is I-80 overhead.
RI used E units on (mostly) pig trains most of the time (not just weekends).

Correct, the CTC crossovers at MP 35.5.
Eastbound, getting ready to climb the hill to Mokena.
Perhaps No. 56 headed for 12th St.

Looking like it should be making lots of money!
I've actually been there while travelling on I-80. My son and I stopped and had a meal directly across the street from that photo location. I recall the signal tower. That was in 2018 and was surprised to see a Metra train flash past.

Yeah they should have been making lots of money. Sadly under the 658 and friends we see a right of way that is greatly hindering their capabilities.

Big stockholders thought they were going to make lots of money
selling it off to UP.  Didn't want to cut into their profits by spending
money on ties when UP could do it.
