Glory Days RR celebration White River Jct - 9/9/17
Author: JPB

A celebration of New England railroads was organized not quite 7 years ago now for 9/9/17 at the once famous, bustling White River Junction VT station and each of the participating RRs enthusiastically rolled out their finest gear.

1. Although the erstwhile Central Maine & Quebec didn't actually operate at White River Jct, it was a neighboring road due to its connection to the Vermont Rail System's "Pompy" line at Newport VT. Pristine GP38-3M, built as a GP35 for the Santa Fe
2. New England Central, operator of the ex-CV line through WRJ, was amply represented by shiny ex-Cotton Belt SD45 9058, rebuilt as SD40M-2 3476.
3. Vermont Rail ex-CN GP40-2LW 311 "Joan Wulfson" was charged with operating excursions up the Pompy.

4 - 6: Pan Am Railways brought a freshly repainted, newly acquired ex-CSX C40-8 Maine Central #7552 along with its awesome OCS equipment that included newly repainted ex-Wabash dome car from the famed  St Louis - Chicago Blue Bird train. Appropriately Pan Am chose to commemorate its namesake in the car's rehab.

7 - Here are the other 2 Pan Am OCS cars (an ex-CSX heavyweight sleeper was added a few years later): ex-N&W/ex-D&H business car #100 and ex-D&RGW/ex-D&H diner #101.
8 - The excursion train featured a number of ex-CNJ commuter cars including cab car #1317
9 - Lastly, Amtrak's southbound Vermonter #57 arrived - the only equipment at Glory Days bought new by its current operator!
