Wonderful shots!!!

The Mendota shot is where the CB&Q/BN crossed the Illinois Central "Charter Line" through northern Illinois as well as a Milwaukee Road branch.  Apparently there was enough traffic at one time on the IC line to require a tower, but successor ICG abandoned the line in the mid-1980s around the time of the sale of its Iowa Division to Chicago, Central and Pacific.  It connected to the Iowa main at Freeport.
