Shorpy pic of Waynoka: what's the mirror for?

Why the mirror in front of the operator?
So he doesn't have to turn around to see
the model board, maybe?

Maybe it's to see if anybody comes in behind him, also.

Probably allows him to glance up and see what's going on the interlocking behind him while copying train orders. I imagine that would take some skill since stuff would be backwards in the mirror.

Gotta look dapper should someone want to take a photo of you!
A very nice look at a small operator's station.

Wonder where that machine was located.  The double track between between MP 342.5 and 346.9 through Waynoka was controlled by an interlocking plant, but Waynoka had no tower as far as I know.  Santa Fe did put small interlocking machines into depots, but I don't know if they shoehorned this one into the brick county seat depot at Waynoka or put it somewhere else.  Am I correct that this is a US&S-design interlocking machine?
