Some 1976 Amtrak San Diegans

Back in June of 1976, some friends and I made a roundtrip from LA to San Diego. The Amfleet equipment and F40PH power were pretty new at the time.
First photo is of our train before departure from LA Union Station.
Next one after arrival in San Diego with the classic Santa Fe station behind. 
Last one, probably the train that we rode back to LA in, according to my notes, #775.

Picture 3 - that whole view today is filled with very high-rise (and very high rent) apartments and office buildings.  It is unrecognizable from that quiet day in 1976.

Great photos and memories of when the F40s and Amfleet were new on the San Diegans.  Quite an optimistic time as the service grew to what it is today.
