.   .   .   they were all new once. Here, in JUL '74, brand new SP class unit 8300, was basking in the afternoon sun at SP's Los Angeles Taylor Yard enging facility.

8300 ended up in Oregon where the horn folks at SP Eugene put a Nathan P5 horn on it. This photo
is from 1983.

Ah come on, this is really and advertisement for Scale Trains right?     

If you are wondering where I am going go look at the Scale Trains website for thier model pics of their products.   They kinda look like this shot.

SP was so unique with how they hung their bells, up there on top.  Makes sense--why have a bell on one side of the engine, under a rail?
