Santa Fe "SDF45" 5966 shoves against the waycars of an eastbound at Caliente (CA).  Originally ATSF F45 1916, she was later painted into the "SPSF" scheme, and was finally scrapped at Boise Locomotive in March 1999.  Slide mount says JUL 83.

That's an awesome shot!  Seems funny that it's pushing "backwards", but that makes the shot all the more interesting, along with the 2 waycars.

Probably pushing this way for when they cut off at Tehachapi.  That way, the engineer is facing forward when they go back down the hill to Bakersfield.  Nice shot, Mike, thanks for posting.
