CSX is only one year old as CSX R120 crosses the B&O main at Vincennes, IN. R120 is now todays I026, JAX-CHI. The B&O line is Cincy-St Louis and was severed in 2015. The line now is from Washington, IN to Flora, IL. Served by a local and grain trains to Olney, IL. The old B&O depot can be seen on the right side of the video. It was torn down in 2021. The B&O track closest to the camera was a continuation track west of the siding where Steve Lee, Bob Krieger, Hotwater and crew put the Clinchfield Christmas train away for the night on a Saturday November 1992 evening on the way home to UP country.
Does the local use the hand throw at Manilla street, or does it use the new connection and head out to the signaled siding in between Vincennes and Lawrenceville to run around their train? With the changes in the traffic flow on CSX, especially the B&O, have the 6th street overpass plans been laid to rest for now? Thanks again for sharing your efforts in this area. Yes, the local uses the Manilla St switch a lot. Don't ever go to Beman because there has been a grain train parked there all year. Pretty sure Lawrenceville siding is gone now. 6th St overpass is buried. Maybe someday it will get done. I remember the UP steamer well! I rode the train from St Louis to Kansas City on a benefit for the St Louis Mercantile Library. Flew back to St L and drove home. Trip of a lifetime! |
