Author: robj

This is in Upper peninsula of Michigan.  Rail line that reached paper mill in Ontonogn on the shore of Lake Superior.   The line extended down to a connection with CN at Green Bay.
In this post I follow from Channing south to Iron Mountain, Channing being station and small engine facility south of Ontonogon

A late winter chase 3/14/2006.
1)   Train from Ontonogon arrives at Channing.
(Another story and photos. The train had left Channing mid Afternoon of 3/13 and recrewed in Ontonogon, fighting drifts back., arrive on morning of 3/14)
2)  Train southbound for Crivitiz at Channing ready to depart.  (Crivitz is between Channing and Ontonogon and next station/junction)
    3 South of Channing.

    NICE!
I believe my last visit to the U.P. was in October 1986. Catching anything on the fly was nearly impossible.
I always thought it would have been interesting to make a dedicated railfan trip. That never happened.
While I spotted bits and pieces these photos are very interesting.
    Thanks,
    Gonut
